Too much time

You would think with all the time I have I would have posted. Well, I'm actually a little depressed and trying to not let it take over. Here's the latest.

I saw the orthopedic surgeon Friday. My Xray looked good and the knee is healing. I can now bend it 60 degrees, which means I can actually bend it when I'm sitting in the shower. Oh, and Chuck redid our shower so that I can take one here and don't have to go to his mom's. WooHoo! Anyway, in 2 more weeks, I will be able to bend it 90 degrees. I still can't bear any weight on it so I'm still pretty limited in what I can do. But I am getting more and more creative so that I can at least do a lot more on my own. In 4 weeks, I will be able to bear 50% weight. I'm not quite sure what that means yet but I see the doctor again on the 27th. At least that means I will get to go to Cami's wedding and see everyone. I am having a bone density scan done on Tuesday. The doctor is worried that I could have osteoporosis. I had a scan done in April of 2009 and at that time I was told that my bones were actually excellent for my age. I don't think it could deteriorate that quickly so I am holding out hope that I don't have the osteo. They just aren't sure why the knee fractured like it did. I don't think I hit my knee when I fell. It was more like my knee gave out and caused me to slip. At this time, she has me off work until 10/29.

Ella has been very good about coming over and keeping me company. She starts school this week so that will end. On another note, Hannah broke her right tibia last Tuesday jumping on a trampoline and has a hot pink cast from toe to hip. She says we are "twins" and we can just walk on one leg (she also can't bear any weight for 4 weeks). She's in good spirits about it but it hasn't been all that long yet. Keeping her down may prove to be a bit challenging in another week or so.

My sub is a RIF teacher from Ramona that I know well. She has brought me Teacher Editions so that I can do some lesson planning. I also told her to bring me grading. At least that way I can have a feel for my class. I did pull up their CST scores from 4th grade and it seems like I have a pretty good class. I have the little sister of a former student that I can't wait to see. I think she was in kindergarten when I had the sister. I had 2 students with perfect CST scores. The sub says they seem like a pretty nice class. And because she will be subbing for more than 20 days, when the 20th day hits, she will earn her regular salary instead of just sub pay so she is happy! That will encourage her to stay unless she gets called back to have her own classroom.

Chuck likes his new job. The pay isn't great, but he really likes being home every night (although he works late a lot of nights) and he loves the weekends off. He has been great with me. I am sure I drive him crazy at times because he comes home tired and I want to do something. He tries to get me out at least one night a week and one day a weekend. I can't imagine how things would be right now if he still was driving across country! It just shows that God always has a plan and we need to trust that he will take care of us.

I also want to say publicly that I really appreciate my family and all the help they have given me. Aaron and Jamie, thank you for coming all the way over here to give me a blessing. My kids are really good about talking to me when I'm bored during the day. My sisters are always there for me. Jerri has been so good about getting me to the doctor. I know everyone has a lot going on in their own lives and I just want all of you to to know how much you are loved and appreciated. I can't wait to see everyone in Blythe on October 10th!

How great that you have a good sub! I'm sure that is a huge relief. Hope you can find things to keep you occupied as you heal and that the scans will return all normal!

I am so happy to hear that your knee is healing well. Just think - the doctor wanted you to have surgery! Aren't you glad you listened to your gut?
Looking forward to seeing you in Blythe. Di
